All About Jennifer Brand

Certified Dog Trainer

I was born and raised in Houston, TX. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Dance, with minors in Psychology and Theater, from Stephen F. Austin State University in May of 2013. I volunteered at the local Humane Society while attending college. I always had a love for dogs and gained a love for cats while working in the shelter. This led to me adopting my cat Zoro in my senior year of college in 2013. I drove Zoro all the way to New York City with me!

In October of 2014, I officially moved to New York City with the hopes of becoming a singer, dancer, and actress. Things took a turn when I started my first dog walking job not long after my move to the Big Apple! It was a dream job for me and soon I got an opportunity I never expected. My friend at the dog walking company was also walking her own dogs in her spare time. She had too many dogs and asked me, “Would you like to start your own dog walking business?” The thought had never crossed my mind. I took that opportunity with Linus in the picture below. This started my journey in creating Jennifer’s Dogs and my love of Pitbulls.

Established in 2014, Jennifer’s Dogs was born! I gained knowledge by training under Ferdie Yau. He is one of the most knowledgeable Behavior Consultants in New York City. As the years went by, I gained valuable skills in handling all types of dogs. Especially in dogs with fear-based behavioral issues with other dogs. I took this knowledge and began training dogs using Positive Reinforcement and Behavior Adjustment Training. I also received my dog training certification (CPDT-KA) through The Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT). I actively follow their Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics Policy as well as LIMA (Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive). Find more about these in my FAQ section!

I moved to Hackensack, NJ in January 2023 and started to expand my business to Bergen County! I'm enjoying the change of pace, but will always be a big city girl at heart! When I’m not working with clients, you can find me teaching dance classes! I love snuggling at home with my boyfriend and I’s dog Stella who is pictured below. Unfortunately, my cat Zoro passed away in June of 2022. I will always love her and she will always be my first fur baby! She is also pictured below.
